Tonight I saw The Good Shepherd, starring Matt Damon and directed by Robert De Niro. The movie is most likely based on the life of Counterintellegence head of the CIA, James Jesus Angleton, hence the good shepherd reference.

Mr. Damon's portrayal was excellent. His acting in not acting is what I would believe a head of a CIA division would be. His aging on film was inconsistent though, but I forgive because it is afterall only make believe. Oh and his portrayal in drag had me howling. No one else was laughing though.? :0 Ms. Jolie, playing his wife, on the other hand was poorly miscast. She is just too ubiquitous at the present time to be taken seriously on the screen. And does she eat? Mr. De Niro's directing was excellent. The three hours did not dull the audience but continued to be led quite seemlessly through time zones, historical occurances and years. I partiulcarly liked the original black and white London blizt footage background shots with Mr. Damon walking in the forefront. Quite moving. Other outstanding notibles were the naturally aging, ill and fat old school boy portrayals by William Hurt and Alec Baldwin.

Jack rates this one as worthly of a coupon folks.

Pooh danced in her final performance last week. (Apologies for the poor quality but I was stuck in my seat and not permitted to use flash :( . Nonetheless, her dance, "Medicine Woman" was one of the highlights of the evening with the dancers incorporating their movements around two live singers and a guitarist.

Saturday morning, Carol and I braced Lake Ontario's forces and took a two hour walk around the bay with Mason and Hunter to catch up on each other's lives. Let me tell you, English Setters (Hunter) and Brittany Spaniels (Mason) are some active breeds. They ran (and took the occasional polar dip) the entire time.

Last night we attended our Christmas Prom held at Atlantis at Ontario Place. Oh, and there was no heat. We were forced to keep drinking and dancing or get frost bite. Great friends made it a night to remember. And this reporter won best dancer contest. Thank you, thank you very much.

On Wednesday Forbzie and Jon left for India (see new fave link) and Poo and I left for Windsor. Poo enjoyed her day shadowing a BFA-Acting student and it renewed her enthusiasm in performing arts that Wexford seems to strip off her on a regular basis. Big thanks to Professor Walsh and the volunteering student for accommodating our needs. Train ride down brought back memories of the Sydney-to-Melbourne journey "Aubrey" episode and we shared some big laughs. Took a walk down memory lane with Ike and Tina Turner on YouTube. I gotta git me some of those tights!

Saw Casino Royale on Nov 17. Daniel Craig's Bond portrayal takes the myth out of the man and thrusts him into reality, 2006 style. Makes him deadly, defiant and vulnerable. And sexy, in the Kelly Gruber, we like 'em when they get rough and dirty, kind of way. Can't wait for the next one. - Jack

Welcome to my blog about loving living life. I believe we are alive to live and I plan to do as much as I can before the end.

Today ended this weekend's Ontario Closed Squash Tournament at Mayfair Lakeshore. The energy in the environment and competitors made it magical. Everyone had a tale to tell of their matches, win or lose - that was my favourite part, listening to the hope, frustration, encouragement and complaining about bodies that no longer delivered upon command like they used to. Personally, I was happy with my performance (4th of 5 Woman's E) because it was my inaugural squash tourney and I played good shots, not winners, every shot. I met many new players and encourage anyone interested in fitness to give squash a try. Other than the occasional rain delay, the tourney ran beautifully and no tinners rusted. -Jack
